Manchester United star Edinson Cavani has rejected a move away from the club, but only because he's eyeing a move to his preferred destination.
Cavani signed in October 2020, and took his time to become a regular under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but by the end of the season was a regular fixture in the team.
The Uruguay striker was linked with a move to Boca Juniors last summer but was convinced by Solskjaer to stay at United for another season.
He was expected to be the first choice striker but then they signed Cristiano Ronaldo on deadline day and his chances in the first team have been limited, not helped by having to quarantine after national duty and an injury.
The 34-year-old is now expected to leave in January, six months before his deal expires, and according to TyC he's already turned down one move.
The Argentinian outlet claim Cavani has actually said no to Boca this time, and he's already decided that he wants to move to Barcelona next month.
Xavi's team are in need of a reinforcements up front after Sergio Aguero's retirement, although they already wanted another striker before that.
It's believed that Ferran Torres remains their number one choice, but the Manchester City forward wouldn't come cheap and the Catalan side have had financial issues of late.
Cavani would no doubt cost less and the former Paris Saint-Germain striker has made it clear that he'd like to move to the Nou Camp.
As well as the United forward, and City's Torres, Barca have also been linked with a move for a third Premier League striker in the shape of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Arsenal striker's future in north London is under threat after he lost the captaincy last week due to disciplinary reasons, after returning from a trip back to France late.
The Gabon striker has been left out of the squad for the past two games and is set to miss the weekend's fixture against Leeds United as well.
Xavi's team have also been linked with a move for their former forward Alexis Sanchez, with that deal reportedly seeing Luuk de Jong go the other way to Inter Milan.
