Manchester United Managerial Target Has 'Discarded' Job And Wants To 'Recharge Batteries'

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under enormous pressure but one of United's key targets isn't interested in the job.

Zinedine Zidane "doesn't think about Manchester United" and a potential managerial vacancy at Old Trafford, reports say.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under enormous pressure following a slew of dismal displays and results, with the 5-0 demolition at the hands of Liverpool on Sunday looking like it could be the final straw.

There have been a flurry of reports as to who United would look to target should they decide to sack club legend Solskjaer.

Zidane, who has been out of work since leaving Real Madrid for a second time earlier this year, has been one of the big names heavily linked.

But according to Mundo Deportivo, via Sport Witness, the Frenchman is not looking to jump back into management anytime soon and is instead "recharging batteries".

As well as the United post, Zidane has been one of many coaches touted as taking on the vacant job at Newcastle United following the club's £305 million Saudi Arabia takeover and swift sacking of Steve Bruce.

But it's said he has "discarded" any imminent opportunities to return to work and is resting following "the intense years" as Real manager.

Zidane won three Champions Leagues in a row with Los Blancos, stepped down for a break and then ended up back at the Santiago Bernabeu very quickly when Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari were relieved of their duties in the same season.

He added another La Liga title and Copa de Espana to his managerial trophy haul in the second spell but resigned again at the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

Managing the French national team or Paris Saint-Germain are the jobs that interest Zidane the most in the future according to reports.

As for United, Antonio Conte, Erik ten Hag, Brendan Rodgers and Graham Potter are some of the other names mentioned as possible successors if Solskjaer gets the boot.
