United were utterly annihilated on their own patch, with Mo Salah scoring a hat-trick and Naby Keita and Diogo Jota also on target in the rout.
4-0 down at the break, the Red Devils were booed off at half-time and thousands of fans left the stadium long before the game's conclusion.
But in footage posted on social media, one supporter was seeing collecting Firmino's shirt after he handed it over before walking down the tunnel.
It promptly went viral, with fans outraged at how the fan got the jersey despite the long-standing rivalry between the two sides.

If the scoreline wasn't bad enough you've got a United fan taking a shirt from a Liverpool player. Embarrassing! pic.twitter.com/7e5Xbhi2Jn— KD (@KD20935788) October 24, 2021

Firmino wasn't on the scoresheet in the humbling but was very impressive with the way in which he linked the play and creating space Salah and Jota to cause utter havoc.
Salah made history in becoming the first opposition player to score a hat-trick against United at Old Trafford in the Premier League, but Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reserved special praise for his No.9.
"Mo [Salah] gets a lot of attention and rightly so but Firmino was outstanding," Klopp said post-match.
"For people with football knowledge, people will write books about how he interprets the false 9.
"We don't say he invented it but it looks like that at times. It was insane."
As good as he was though, we're still not sure about giving your shirt to a United fan.
