Louis Van Gaal Is Taking Netherlands' Training From A Golf Cart After Injuring Himself

Louis Van Gaal Is Taking Netherlands' Training From A Golf Cart After Injuring Himself

The former Manchester United boss was put in a wheelchair after falling off a bike but to take training he needs to be a bit more inventive.

Louis van Gaal isn't exactly the most conventional of coaches and the Netherlands boss is now training his team from the comfort of a golf buggy.

Van Gaal has had a tremendous amount of success in his career but he's also known for his sometimes bizarre behaviour and cartoon like reactions.

His time at Manchester United is best known for poor football and specifically the time he threw himself to the ground during a heated debate with Arsene Wenger.

The Dutchman is back in charge of Netherlands' national team and is hoping to help them qualify for the World Cup, but needs a win against Norway on Tuesday to secure the team's place in Qatar.

His preparation hasn't been helped by the fact the 70-year-old has managed to injure himself whilst riding his bike and has had to be put in a wheelchair.

Obviously that isn't ideal to be on a football pitch running a training session so the two time Champions League winning manager has now had to take training on a golf buggy.

As well as a change to his coaching duties, Van Gaal couldn't even get in the room for his pre match press conference and had to do it via Zoom.

Whilst that's hardly unheard of in the past two years, it did cause the weird visual of Virgil van Dijk being in the room in person and his manager being on a big screen.

The Liverpool centre back could been seen cracking up after a question to his boss about the pain he's in.

During the last international break, Van Gaal ended up insulting one journalist after they asked the former Barcelona manager about his tactics.

He will be hoping that those tactics work on Tuesday when he comes up against Erling Haaland and Norway, as a loss would cost them a place at next winter's World Cup.

Wins for Norway and Turkey would even mean that they fail to reach the play-offs.
