Usain Bolt scored his first ever goal in professional football this week but the Jamaican revealed he doesn't think of himself as a footballer yet and has now been given an update on his future in the sport.

There aren't that many examples of the world's elite sports gaining a huge amount of success in one sport and then swapping to replicate that success in a new sport.

Whilst there is examples around the place there's also plenty of rugby league players who couldn't make it in union and those two sports seem like the two closest to swap between, so it isn't easy.

Usain Bolt will of course find it extremely difficult to recreate his success in running in his new sport football, mainly because to do so he'd basically have to be Lionel Messi considering his success in sprinting.

The Jamaican trained with a few clubs but is now on trial in Australia with the Central Coast Mariners, trying to earn himself a full time contract.

This week he scored his first goal in professional football leading to a lot of people to be excited about his future in the game.

According to Fox Sports in Australia things might not be that cut and dry though as they say 'doubt linger' over his future and whether he can make it as a footballer.

Bolt himself admitted he didn't feel like he could call himself a footballer yet, saying, "Until I sign (a contract), I'm not saying that."

A-League starts next week but Mariners coach Mike Mulvey revealed that whatever happens Bolt won't be ready until January saying, "I think we're all in agreement that we'll look about January," and Mulvey added he didn't know how Bolt would get any more game time adding, "I don't know how that's going to work, but my main mission is Brisbane next week, October 21."

Bolt actually grabbed two goals as the Mariners won their pre season friendly against Macarthur South West United 4-0 on Friday.

Whether he can be a success still remains to be seen but what a story it'll be if he gets a contract as a professional footballer.
