Serie B could have a collection of star power next season, if AC Monza owner Silvio Berlusconi has anything to do with it.

Berlusconi was the owner of AC Milan for just over 30 years, from 1986 to 2017, before selling the club and just a year later he bought Serie C side Monza.

With the third tier of Italian football curtailed because of the Covid-19 pandemic the club have been confirmed as champions and are now moving up to Serie B.

Now the former Italian Prime Minister is hoping to reunite with three of his former players. "We are thinking of four or five reinforcements, he told Telelombardía, via Marca.

"I am very optimistic that we can also win the Serie B championship and Kaká may be one of them."

The Brazilian hasn't played since 2017, after playing for Orlando City, but was twice signed by Berlusconi at the San Siro, winning the Ballon d'Or in 2007 during his first stint there.

However the former Milan owner will be hoping to get the Brazilian to come out of retirement as he attempts back-to-back promotions to try and reach the top tier.

Asked about the possibility of signing Ibrahimovic, who he also bought to Milan, the 83-year-old added, "It was a goal for us and, for non-sporting reasons, we had to give up. But you should never say never. We will keep trying."

The Swedish striker returned to Milan in January on s six month deal, with the option of another year, however he has reportedly fallen out with the club's CEO, former Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis, over the sacking of Zvonimir Boban and is expected to leave in the summer.

According to Marca, Berlusconi is also interested in signing Balotelli for his new club and the former Manchester City striker could be available on a free.

The Italian has been sacked by Serie A side Brescia, with the paperwork waiting to go through, and even if he isn't fired he's still likely to leave, with the club bottom of the table and having been treated terribly by his hometown club's owner and fans.

If Berlusconi can get his hands on any of the trio then his side have a great chance of promotion next season, all three would be quite incredible to watch together.
