Diego Maradona is one of the greatest footballers that has ever lived and he's also a bit of a character, to put it lightly. Soon they'll be a documentary on his life and the first clip from 'Simply Maradona' has been released.

Is there a more compelling character in sport than Diego Maradona? Whether it be his genius on the pitch or the madness off the pitch, or sometimes a mix of the two, the Argentina legend is box office stuff.

Even in recent times Maradona has become manager of a club in Mexico, demanding a private jet as part of his payment, turned up as chairman of a Belarussian team in a tank and given half the crowd the middle finger at a World Cup game.

All of that is in the past year and doesn't come near to telling the story of the World Cup winner.

Soon we'll be able to hear the full story of the Napoli legend as director Asif Kapadia, who directed documentaries about Ayrton Senna and Amy Winehouse, brings us Simply Maradona, a documentary about the 58 year olds life.

The first clip shows how much of a big deal his signing for Napoli was and you can hear the roar from the crowd at the Stadio San Paolo:

The synopsis of the film says, "On 5th July 1984, Diego Maradona arrived in Naples for a world-record fee and for seven years all hell broke loose. The world's most celebrated football genius and the most dysfunctional city in Europe were a perfect match for each other. Maradona was blessed on the field but cursed off it; the charismatic Argentine, quickly led Naples to their first-ever title. It was the stuff of dreams. But there was a price... Diego could do as he pleased whilst performing miracles on the pitch, but when the magic faded he became a prisoner of the city.

"The third film from the Academy Award- and BAFTA-winning team behind Senna and Amy, the film is constructed from over 500 hours of never-before-seen footage from Maradona's personal archive with the full support of the man himself."

If Kapadia can recreate the magic he captured with 'Senna' for the new film about Maradona then it's sure to be a hit, and we cannot wait.

The film is due to come out on June 14th.
