The Liverpool legend was very happy with Salah's brace against Roma in the Champions League.

The crowd and Anfield cheered with vigour, fans inside bars and pubs would have been losing their minds and up in the television studio Steven Gerrard was reacting to Mo Salah's goals with all of the same passion.

Aren't we all just running out of ways to describe Mo Salah and what he's doing on the pitch for Liverpool this season? The best way of describing it at this point is that he could actually beat Ronaldo and Messi to the Ballon d'Or, that's how good he is right now.

The Egyptian was at it again last night in the Champions League, ripping Barcelona's conquerors Roma to shreds. The former Roma man grabbed a double against his ex side and was a constant thorn in their side.

His first was a beautiful curled effort past Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson which left him with absolutely no chance. The second was a perfect counter attack from the Reds resulting in the Roma number one being left for dead with a perfectly executed chip from the Egyptian.

Steven Gerrard, a man known to score a famous Champions League goal himself, was clearly very happy with what he was watching:

In case you missed it, it's worth watching the video again for Gary Lineker's reaction to the first, it perfectly sums up what we think about Salah's opener too.

The goals, as well a double from Roberto Firmino and one from Sadio Mane, although the former Southampton forward should have grabbed more, left the Reds 5-0 up and looking certainties for the final.

Roma did pull two goals back towards the end of the game and give themselves hope of going through, although it would still require something special.

The Serie A side beat Barcelona 3-0 in the second leg of the quarter final, after losing the first leg 4-1 in Spain, to overturn the deficit and go through on away goals but it could be too much to ask to pull off the trick a second time.

They'll need to win by three goals and with Salah in this form that might be extremely difficult!
