Dimitri Payet had an incredible spell in the Premier League and his 2015/16 season for West Ham United was one of the best single seasons in recent memory.
Signed from Marseille for £10.7 million in the summer of 2015, Payet was unplayable for the Hammers in his debut season and brought back the level of X-Factor and entertainment that the Irons' faithful had been crying out ever since Paolo di Canio left.
Payet was wondrous to watch and played with a real swagger that got West Ham fans up and out of their seats. Not only that but his stats were also extremely impressive, with the Frenchman scoring nine goals and registering 12 assists in the league for Slaven Bilic's side.
THAT rabona assist for Michail Antonio against Watford and the inexplicably sublime free-kick against Wayne Hennessey and Crystal Palace are just two of his incredible moments in the season.
Payet was deservedly named in the PFA Team of the Year for his contributions and his highlights from the term are still a joy to behold.
In fact, West Ham posted a video of every goal and assist he notched for the club to celebrate his 32nd birthday last year.
There was a little more magic in the second season but halfway through the campaign Payet decided he wanted out and longed for a return to Marseille.
After refusing to play the Frenchman would eventually get his wish in the January window, heading back to Les Olympiens in a £25 million move.
It turned extremely sour towards the end - and a uncensored version of his chant was belted out by West Ham fans as a result- but supporters will never forget what a special player he was.
Explaining his decision to leave, Payet told L'Equipe: "I came back because I had this feeling: I had gone to West Ham without having finished my history with OM.
"I knew where I would put my feet, that I would not be let go, that we would expect a lot from me.
"I did not come back to be quiet, to be easy, otherwise I would have stayed in West Ham."
