When a footballer is nearing the end of his career there isn't much you can offer him to make him sign for your club, after all he's probably already got all the money he'll need. That's why one German lower league side went a bit different for Bastian Schweinsteiger.

There isn't much Bastian Schweinsteiger hasn't achieved in his career. As well as winning the World Cup with Germany he's won eight league titles with Bayern Munich and even the Champions League.

In a recent poll the German was even voted in the top 10 central midfielders in the 21st century, a pretty decent accolade considering the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Zinedine Zidane and Claude Makelele were amongst the competition.

For the last year Schweinsteiger has been playing in the MLS with Chicago Fire but his contract has now run out and at aged 33 there can't be too many deals left for the German.

So will he look for the most money before he retires or will German lower league club SG Buna Hallew's offer of land, a nanny and a tennis court be enough to sway him. Club spokesman Sascha Gerber wrote an open letter to the former Bayern Munich star saying:

"There's been a lot of speculation about where you'll go next, but we want to tempt you to join SG Buna. Here in rural Saxony you'll be able to avoid the hype there would be if you moved to a big German city.

"We would also do our best to provide you with a plot of building land in the best part of town. We could certainly find a space for your wife Ana Ivanovic at the local tennis club. Also, your new arrival would be well looked after - as we could supply you with a kindergarten teacher.

"In sporting terms, we are not in the Champions League just yet. The road is hard, but with you as our star attraction it is not impossible - you can't defeat a footballing god. Several of our players are big fans of yours, and would love to make the journey with you.

"And let's not forget the social aspect. After training and matches you can recharge your batteries with our 20 different beers. You'll surely take the area to your heart once you have stepped onto our Wembley-standard turf.

"And we can introduce you to our local specialities, such as the Halloren chocolate factory and Kathi's bakery. You'll also have no problems with your kit supplier adidas - we've used them for years. Maybe we could name our stadium after you.

"You've got plenty of reasons to join us down in black and white. You can contact us via Facebook - or despite the time difference with Chicago we're waiting for your phone call at any time."

Hold on, there's beer, chocolate and a stadium named after him all on offer? What's not to love?

The problem is that the MLS report that Chicago Fire are close to re-signing the German after his deal ran out. The new contract would see him remain a 'Designated Player' for 2018 with a 2019 option too.

But come on Bastian there's a nanny and beer on the line here!
