Alexis Sanchez Responds To Claims Thierry Henry Told Him To Join Manchester United
Arsenal fans aren't exactly thrilled that once again their club has sold one of their best players to a rival but they were even more annoyed at the thought that he was persuaded to do so by a club legend. Now Alexis Sanchez has responded.
It has been rather a trope of the latter Arsene Wenger years at Arsenal that they have lost some of their best players to rivals either home or abroad with a glut of talent heading mainly to Manchester or Barcelona.
One player who made the trip to Catalonia was Thierry Henry and after Alexis Sanchez joined Manchester United there were rumours that the Gunners' top goalscorer had given the Chilean advice to leave, a claim the Frenchman refuted:
I know I don't need to explain this to the majority of Arsenal fans but contrary to speculation at no time did I tell Alexis Sanchez to leave Arsenal. I had no idea he was going to sign for Man Utd until I saw it on the news like the rest of you.

Now the new Manchester United number seven has tweeted to come to the defence of Henry, admonishing him of any 'blame' over his choice to leave the Emirates in favour of Old Trafford:
I want to clarify that Henry never told me to leave the club, it was a personal decision ... he LOVES the club and someday it would be nice to see him as the arsenal coach because he loves the club ...

Sanchez has been criticised in some quarters for leaving Arsenal part way through the season and for one of the Gunners top four rivals but he was going to leave in the summer for free anyway.
Henry has also come under criticism from fans of the club after he reportedly turned down a job as a coach with Wenger's side as the club wanted him to give up his role as a Sky Sports pundit.
WATCH: Henry and Sanchez would be proud of some of these strikes:
The World Cup winner is now assistant to Roberto Martinez with the Belgian international team and will be at the World Cup but a future role at Arsenal remains a possibility.
Has Sanchez tainted his status as a legend for Arsenal?
