When it comes to winning the Premier League few people know what it takes as a player more than Roy Keane. Now the Ireland assistant manager the 46 year-old has made his prediction to who will win the title this year.

Of course it's too early to know for sure still and this is probably said every season but this year really could be one of the closest Premier League title challenges for the last few years.

For the past two years at least we've been expecting and hoping for really tight title challenges from more than one team and expecting things to go late in the season. Instead Leicester City and Chelsea have relatively walked to their two championships.

This year though the way the two Manchester clubs and Chelsea have started things could be a lot closer than usual and that's not to discount Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool who could yet have their own say.

With no one sure who will come out on top at this early stage Roy Keane was brave enough to make a prediction. Talking to ITV Sport this week about Manchester United the former central midfielder said:

"United are back. They look like they will compete to win the big trophies. Over the last few years, you are thinking they might win a League Cup and the lesser trophies.

"But they are back competing and I expect them to be in the latter stages of the Champions League and winning the Premier League."

United have started the season brilliantly and are unbeaten in their opening six Premier League games, which is halfway to being seven games as I write this, and have only dropped points away against Stoke City.

It has been a big change from their previous four seasons under David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and even Jose Mourinho since Sir Alex Ferguson retired where United haven't looked anything like title contenders.

Keane spent 13 seasons at Old Trafford and played 480 times for United where he became captain under 'Fergie' before their relationship deteriorated and he moved to Celtic.

The former Sunderland manager is now assistant at Ireland for Martin O'Neil and a pundit for ITV.
