In one of the biggest reliefs of the season, the Roma board have decided to reverse their decision on Francesco Totti's future and will offer their legendary captain a new one year contract.
The Giallorossi icon seemed set for an Summer exit from the club where he has spent his entire career, captaining them since his teenage years and lifting the Serie A title in 2001. In his glittering 24 year career, Totti has become the second highest goalscorer in Serie A history, netting 247 times in 598 appearances (former Lazio and Juventus striker Silvio Piola leads the charts with 333 goals).
A falling out with manager Luciano Spalletti seemed to have spelled the end for The King Of Rome, who was being reduced to a role on the sidelines this season, but with his future in the Italian capital in the balance Totti did what he does best, score vital goals, namely two late strikes to hand Roma victory over Udinese last week.
