Being a footballer has so many wonderful positives to it but the one big negative is that they're sometimes just one injury away from their careers ending. Ryan Giggs has revealed which Manchester United pair this happened to cruelly.

Injuries are an unfortunate part of football. Whether it's an annoying niggle that keeps you out of your Sunday league game or a much more punishing one that stops you being a Premier League player they are the worst part of the game.

Ryan Giggs was a player who suffered from a lot of injuries in the early days of his career but managed to go on till he was 40 after he got better, and turned to yoga.

Giggs was just ahead of the famous 'Class of 92' that had a ridiculous amount of success after coming through the academy at Manchester United, but some people missed out.

The Wales manager revealed that Ben Thornley and Adrian Doherty were the two men who were unlucky to miss out on incredible careers because of injury.

Speaking on Robbie Savage's Premier League Breakfast show on BBC Radio 5 Live Giggs' said, "We lost two brilliant players because of injury. Ben and Adrian Doherty, the Doc. They both could have gone on to do anything in football.

"Wingers as well. Coming through Man United system with a history of wingers, players who get the fans off their seat, players that fans go away after the game and just, 'See what he did?'

"Ben wasn't like me, with just one foot, he could go either way and he was a nightmare for a defender because he could get onto his right foot and shoot, get onto his left foot and cross the ball.

"He was a brilliant player, Ben."

United didn't do too badly without the pair having careers. Giggs won 13 Premier League titles without Thornley competing with him for the positions on the wing and the Red Devils brought through David Beckham to play on the right.

There are many players who have had career ruined by injuries but if Giggs is saying this pair could have had a positive impact at Old Trafford, considering how much success they had anyway, you know they were good.
