Legendary commentator Peter Brackley, best known for his work on Pro Evolution Soccer games and Channel 4s Football Italia passed away on Sunday after losing a battle with a serious illness.

Japan may have been the only fully licensed team in Pro Evolution 2 but it will go down as one of the greatest, and most influential football games of all time.

Other than the classic theme tune of Queen - We Will Rock You, Pro Evolution Soccer's second installment included some of the greatest commentary we've ever heard. (sorry, Alan McInally)

The game was enhanced due to Peter Brackley, who was perhaps most famous for covering Football Italia back in the 90's, and his magical commentary on the game. RIP Peter, this will always make you a hero in our eyes.

Brackley also provided us with the commentary for another classic, Michael Owen's World League Soccer '99 but his line from Pro Evolution Soccer 2 will forever be remembered.

The 67 year old was a Brighton and Hove Albion fan and the club confirmed the sad passing on their Twitter account:

Albion chief executive Paul Barber said, "So many of us here at the club knew Peter well. He was a hugely talented, knowledgeable, funny and, above all else, a good man. We will miss him. Our condolences go out to Peter's family, including our colleague and his nephew Paul, and all of his many friends".

Writing in the Argus when he missed Brighton's recent 2-2 draw with Fulham due to illness the former ITV commentator said, "Water retention problems mean I am currently being treated for tree trunk lower limbs that make Liverpool midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri's thunder thighs resemble Twiggy's pins from her sixties modelling days.

"So, sadly, I had to miss the Fulham game."

From commentating the best football game of our childhood, to the nostalgia of Football Italia and some of the great World Cup game on ITV Brackley was a true legend of the game. RIP.
