The footballing world is hoping that Sir Alex Ferguson can recover after the legendary Manchester United manager needed emergency surgery. Eric Cantona is backing his former boss and mentor to make a big comeback, after all he always does.

Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United team became best known for their late goals and dramatic comebacks. Perhaps his greatest achievement as a manager, United's Treble in 1999, was defined by a big comeback in the Champions League final.

On Saturday the world of football was shook by the news that Fergie had been rushed to hospital for emergency surgery following a brain hemorrhage and fans began to fear the worse.

Since then tributes have been flooding in from all parts, be it former players of the Scot's on social media, Arsene Wenger during his farewell speech or opposition fans holding banners, the world is behind the 76 year old.

Now Eric Cantona, the man who helped Fergie transform United into the serial Premier League winners through force of personality, has paid tribute to his former boss and backed him to win:

The Frenchman has been Eurosport's Commissioner of Football for some time and gives his brilliant opinions on football but usually covers more humorous topics, this time getting far more serious.

It's a typically brilliant tribute from Cantona and one that rings very true. Fergie himself once said that his team didn't lose, they merely ran out of time. Based on his time at Old Trafford nothing was truer.

Of course that infamous night in the Camp Nou when the former Aberdeen manager won his first Champions League was the perfect example. United were behind thanks to Mario Basler's first half free kick.

They weathered the storm from Bayern and trailed 1-0 still as injury time hit then substitutes Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer scored in the closing moments to give the Red Devils an infamous win.

Cantona was the catalyst for United's dominance in the Premier League. He won the last Division One title with Leeds before getting a move to Old Trafford.

He won four league titles with United and became captain for the Red Devils as he came to embody their fighting spirit in the early years of the new division as they asserted their dominance.

When the Frenchman says Fergie will win through because he always does it's difficult to argue.
