Andrea Pirlo Joins Ridiculously Good Sky Italia Punditry Team

Lucky Italian football fans will get to see Andrea Pirlo on a weekly basis on their television screens after Sky Italia added the former Juventus midfielder to their star studded list of football pundits.

To borrow a phrase Andrea Pirlo is very definitely SPORTbible fodder. We absolutely love Pirlo and it's generally because you guys to do. But also because he had a wand of a right foot, is as cool as a cucumber and just looks marvellous.

Just look at that sexy bounce!

For years Pirlo ruled Serie A, first with Milan and then with Juventus, as well as being bloody brilliant for his country, we even forgave him for knocking England out of Euro 2012, before he moved to the MLS.

It's fair to say during his time in America he rather 'phoned it in' and didn't really try too hard. But then he retired after just over two seasons for New York City FC.

After some time off the 39 year old was announced today as Sky Italia's newest football pundit:

Speaking on his retirement about his future plans Pirlo said, "Am I thinking of coaching? Just because you were a good player doesn't automatically mean you can do it. You need to be willing to do it and prove yourself in the field. That spark within you needs to ignite, and it's not ignited within me yet.

"There's not one right and one wrong way. It depends on the opportunities you are given. If they call you immediately to [coach] a first team, it's hard to refuse.

"Like I say, I don't have that intention right now. After 25 years of football, I'm going to stay at home with my family. I'll keep myself in form playing golf and tennis."

Pirlo's new colleagues include Juventus legend Alessandro del Piero, former Chelsea player-manager Gianluca Vialli, Italy legend Alessandro Costacurta and former England manager Fabio Capello.

There's a hell of a lot of experience on the Sky Italia team, and they'd make quite the five-a-side team too, but none of them are a beautiful as the latest addition.
