Jurgen Klopp Has Asked Liverpool To Secure A Double January Signing

Jurgen Klopp wants two new additions and has identified his targets.

Jurgen Klopp has asked Liverpool to secure a double swoop for Leicester City's Harvey Barnes and Luka Jovic of Real Madrid.

In Roberto Firmino, Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota, Klopp has a wonderful attacking quartet that has brought plenty of goals and assists.

But the former trio are not getting any younger, with an average of 29, and Klopp, as well as sporting director Michael Edwards, are looking for fresh options going forward.

Plenty of players have been scouted but according to Fichajes, Barnes and Jovic have been identified as two key targets.

Barnes, 23, has made huge strides for Leicester in recent times and his fine form led to him making his England debut in October 2020 against Wales.

Injury cut short a strong 2020/21 campaign in February and ended any hopes of making Gareth Southgate's Euro 2020 squad.

But Barnes returned to fitness for the new season, where he's once again established himself as one of Leicester's main attacking threats.

And Klopp revealed he is a big fan of Barnes when discussing him prior to a 3-1 loss that the winger scored in last term.

Speaking in a press conference, Klopp said: "Barnes is probably one of the biggest talents, I’m not sure if he is respected or appreciated as much as he should be, he is an unbelievable player to be honest, a proper Leicester product."

Jovic, meanwhile, was a man in demand after banging in 27 goals in 48 games for Eintracht Frankfurt and ended up signing for Real Madrid in a reported €60 million move.

He's only found the net twice for Los Blancos, however, and returned to Frankfurt on loan last season.

After struggling at Real and finding first-team opportunities hard to come by, the 23-year-old is said to be keen to move on.
