Jurgen Klopp Branded 'Salty' For Interview After Liverpool Lost 3-2 To West Ham

Jurgen Klopp saw his Liverpool side suffer their first Premier League defeat of the season at the hands of West Ham.

Jurgen Klopp has branded "salty" for his post-match interview after Liverpool lost 3-2 away at West Ham.

The Reds suffered their first defeat of the season in a thrilling game at the London Stadium.

Alisson knocked Pablo Fornals' corner into his own net under pressure from Angelo Ogbonna for the opener, before Trent Alexander-Arnold equalised with a stunning free-kick.

Fornals put West Ham back in the lead, before Kurt Zouma made it 3-1 with a second set-piece goal.

Substitute Divock Origi set up a grandstand finish with a late strike but the Hammers held on.

Klopp, however was not happy and took issue with a number of decisions in the game.

He could not understand how the first goal was a foul and was adamant Aaron Cresswell should have been sent off for a "reckless" follow-through on skipper Jordan Henderson.

"The first goal is a foul on the goalie," Klopp told Sky Sports.

"The arm goes against Alisson's arm so how can he catch the ball when someone pulls his arm away. It makes no sense. It's the typical excuse that VAR says it's not clear and obvious but then what do you need?

"What can [Alisson] do? That's why the goalie is protected in moments. If a player goes up with his arm for a goalie that's an important position of the body and if that's in the way how can he make a save?

"People will say I'm looking for excuses, I'm not. I accept we're not too good to lose football games. Today we lost it, that's not nice but I accept it. But when we speak about situations in a game you just need normal decisions from a referee. He didn't do that.

"Cresswell? For me it's a reckless challenge. Even though he touches the ball, you can't go in like that as anything can happen. You can say he touched the ball but you have to control your body.

"Those two situations were influential in the game but in the end West Ham fought for the three points. They are not responsible for the decisions the VAR made."

Klopp was always going to be aggrieved with the calls made but he also had a dig at David Moyes' side when he said, "West Ham played really good stuff this season but today it was like the old West Ham with set-pieces."

After the huge win, West Ham moved ahead of Liverpool and up to third, level on points with Manchester City as we enter the international break.
