Jamie O'Hara Unloads On 'Embarrassing' Norwich City And Says Premier League Should Change To 18 Teams

Jamie O'Hara Unloads On 'Embarrassing' Norwich City And Says Premier League Should Change To 18 Teams

Jamie O'Hara has laid into Norwich City after a poor start to the season in the Premier League.

Former Spurs and Wolves midfielder Jamie O'Hara has laid into Norwich City and called them an "embarrassment to the Premier League".

The Canaries have been flip-flopping between the Championship and top flight in recent years under Daniel Farke.

Having been promoted back to the Premier League last-term, Norwich have taken just one point from their first seven games and sit bottom of the league.

Overall, they are yet to taste victory in their last 16 Premier League fixtures across 2020/21 and 2019/20.

And O'Hara did not hold back with his assessment of the Carrow Road club.

“There are 20 teams in the Premier League and it’s almost getting ridiculous with Norwich," O'Hara said on talkSPORT.

"They are yet to win a game. There are other teams involved in this – Southampton, Newcastle, Burnley and Norwich yet to win a league match this season.

“It starts to raise the question for me, Norwich have come into the Premier league again and are the whipping boys.

“I said it at the start of the season and I took a load of stick from Norwich fans who were saying ‘we’re going to have a go this season, we spent money, we’re going to be there’.

“Again they are showing they are an embarrassment to the Premier League. They’ve got one point and it’s just ridiculous."

O'Hara also believes that teams like Norwich should be removed from the league as seeing them lose all the time is "pointless".

He continued: "It raises the question of all these players being fatigued, too many games, the big teams looking at doing the Super League, which I’m against, but I think they are starting to get the hump with irrelevant football matches.

“I think you could drop it down to 18 teams and you get rid of the dross. Get rid of the teams who are no good, who are killing the Premier League, because it has got to such heights now.

“These games where you’ve got Norwich getting beaten all the time, coming up and just killing the Premier League, it’s just pointless.”

When the Premier League was created in 1992, a season in which Norwich finished third, there were 22 teams.

This was reduced to 20 for the 1995/1996 season, with only two clubs promoted from the second division.

Still searching for their first victory this term, Norwich host Brighton on 16 October in their next fixture.
