Inter Milan wanted to bring Timo Werner to the club as part of the transfer which took Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge.
According to Bild journalist Christian Faulk, the German striker who joined Chelsea under Frank Lampard, was given the opportunity to join the Italian giants earlier this summer to make up the bulk of the £97.5m fee paid for Lukaku.
The fact that the 25-year-old turned down the move shows his desire to be a further success at Chelsea, building on last seasons Champions League title, will be pleasing to Blues fans with many excited to see his attributes combine with those of the Belgian powerhouse, who has returned to the club 10 years from first joining in 2011.

Inter have also been linked with Marcus Thuram but the son of legendary Serie A defender Lillian faces two months out after picking up an injury playing for Borussia Monchengladbach. It is thought they are in the closing stages of signing Lazio's Argentinian striker Joaquin Correa.
Concerns have been raised about Werner's end product at Chelsea He has scored six goals since arriving from Red Bull Leipzig in 2020. Thomas Tuchel has been honest in his assessment of the player so far and the fact that Werner wants to stay in West London shows he feels he has the faith of the new boss.
