Harry Kane Told He's 'Like Diego Maradona Now' After Superb Showing Against Newcastle

Harry Kane given huge praise by David Ginola.

Harry Kane is 'like Diego Maradona now', reckons David Ginola who paid the ultimate compliment to the Tottenham superstar.

Surprisingly, Kane didn't find the back of the net in his side's 5-1 win over Newcastle United last weekend.

But he did provide a glorious assist for Matt Doherty and played an instrumental part in the build-up to Son Heung-min's goal.

Kane's starring role against Newcastle saw him land the 'Man of the Match' award by Jamie Carragher.

And Ginola continued the high praise after the game by comparing him to none other than Argentina icon Maradona.

On Sky Sports, the Frenchman said: "The new playmaker at Spurs is Harry Kane.

"I told you - Harry Kane, the playmaker, the number 10, he’s like Maradona now."

Ginola added: "He’s playing in the middle of the park, long balls, short balls, scoring, assisting, wow. This is a new Harry Kane."

Spurs boss Antonio Conte spoke glowingly about his star man, too - praising the England international for the example he sets for the rest of his teammates.

"At the end of the game I said it was a shame that he didn’t score but he played in an amazing way and got an assist," he revealed.

"To have a player like this in your team is very important. He can score goals and create chances. I like him as a person.

"Talented players don’t always want to work hard but from the first day I arrived here he set an example. You think that’s normal but it’s not. Great players are sometimes lazy and that’s not him. He’s a big example for his teammates. He’s encouraging us to be competitive."

Kane has 12 league goals and six league assists to his name this season, with Spurs currently occupying a Champions League spot.
