Gremio Fans Storm The Pitch And Destroy VAR Area After Losing 3-1 At Home

Gremio supporters were absolutely furious and headed over to the VAR area to cause chaos.

There were utterly crazy scenes in the Brazilian top flight as Gremio fans stormed the pitch and attempted to break the VAR system.

Despite going 1-0 up against Palmeiras, the side lost 3-1 at home - with Raphael Velga scoring two penalties at the end of the first half before Breno Lopes wrapped up the win deep into stoppage time.

Gremio, who have former Bayern Munich stars Douglas Costa and Rafinha in their squad, are 19th in Brasileiro Serie A and in danger of being relegated to the second tier with just 11 games remaining.

And furious fans decided to invade the pitch after the game, targeting the area where the VAR screen was being held and going mental.

The pocket of supporters also started battling with stewards, hurling objects and throwing punches as things got very ugly.

Players were in the tunnel watching on stunned as all hell broke loose.

Eventually the fans returned to the stands after the riot police arrived on the scene but not after plenty of damage was done.

Gremio occupy the second relegation spot and are seven points adrift of safety following the loss

Former Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari was back at the club recently for a fourth managerial spell after returning in July but left by mutual consent in October following a dismal run of results.
