WATCH: Replays Show Griezmann's Penalty Should Have Been Disallowed

The Frenchman's spot kick has proved to be controversial

Antoine Griezmann briefly give Atletico Madrid hope of still reaching the Champions League final by scoring against Real Madrid tonight - but replays show his penalty kick almost definitely shouldn't have stood.

The two teams met in the semi-final first-leg last week, with Real running out 3-0 winners courtesy of a stunning hat-trick from Cristiano Ronaldo.

A three-goal lead to over turn against one of the planet's best teams sounds almost impossible, but Atletico are giving it a pretty good go, and after Saul Niguez made the second-leg 1-0 after just 12 minutes, Griezmann was handed an opportunity to reduce the deficit further from the penalty spot, and he duly took it.

But, if you look closely at the replays, it appears the Frenchman hit the ball twice during his run-up - once with his right foot and then with his favoured left:

Of course, it's almost impossible for the officials to see it, but a penalty should just be one direct shot on goal, not two.

Real Madrid pulled a goal back through Isco just before half-time, but, at one point in the match , that penalty could still have been vital.
