Minutes after Everton grabbed an unlikely first half equaliser through Matthew Pennington, Philippe Coutinho has scored a delicious curling effort to restore Liverpool's lead.

The Brazil international had been linked with a move to Barcelona during the international break, with Neymar speculating that the midfielder would fit perfectly into Luis Enrique's system.

Pennington scored but it wasn't the best Merseyside derby for him!

And while Liverpool fans would rightfully be furious if they were to lose the their star man, supporters can surely understand why the La Liga giants would harbour an interest after this magnificent goal.

The 24-year-old picked up the ball in Everton's half, before beating Idrissa Gueye, making his way into the box and executing a magnificent curling effort which put Liverpool back in front:

The last Merseyside derby was a cagey encounter, with Liverpool sealing all three points through a dramatic last-minute winner from Sadio Mane.

However this time Liverpool were much the better side for most of the game and after the clubs shared three goals in the first half Liverpool score again in the second 45 minutes to win 3-1.
