If Chelsea were hoping to increase their lead on their Premier League rivals today against relegation battlers Crystal Palace then maybe things haven't gone as smoothly as they were expecting.
Christian Benteke is amongst the Premier League's most frustrating players and the times he does do something sublime just serve to remind you of the times he is ridiculous.
His form for Aston Villa when he first moved to the Premier League was cause enough for Liverpool to sign him for ยฃ32 million after 42 league goals in just three seasons.

Benteke was Villa's standout player but form hasn't recovered since leaving.
However things didn't work out for him at Anfield with only 10 goals in all competitions in his one season for the Reds before Jurgen Klopp decided to sell him.
Somehow the top six side managed to get their money back by selling him to Crystal Palace but things haven't got much better with only nine goals in the league.

But today he was in goalscoring mood as he got one against title chasers Chelsea to put Palace 2-1 up after being 1-0 down away at Stamford Bridge:
Chelsea are 10 points clear of second place Spurs at the moment and the second place side are currently playing a difficult away game against Burnley.
The Blues would have been hoping for a chance to go 13 points clear at the top but Benteke and Wilfried Zaha have given them a lot to do at half-time.
