Thorgan Hazard Scores Thunderbolt To Put Belgium Ahead Of Portugal

Thorgan Hazard lit up the Euro 2020 last 16 game between Belgium and Portugal with an absolute worldie of a goal just before half time.

Belgium fans would have been hoping that older brother Eden Hazard would be able to find top form in order to make the difference in the huge last 16 game.

After around 42 minutes of football that failed to capture the imagination, it was the younger of the Hazard duo who broke the deadlock with a piece of magic.

Whilst the ball did swerve in the air, Portugal goalkeeper Rui Patricio will probably be disappointed he didn't do better with the strike.

Hazard hit it with power but the Wolves number one, who has been linked with a move to Roma, was beaten despite the ball not being in the corner.

The game was expected to be one of the tournament's best, with two of the most fancied sides for the title going head-to-head so early on, but before the goal it was a half of little quality.

Cristiano Ronaldo came closest to opening the scoring with a long range free kick, he got it on target but Thibaut Courtois dealt with it.

The Juventus striker's failure to score means he's now only netted once in 51 attempts from free kicks in World Cups and Euros, and none in 27 in the European championships.

The former Real Madrid star needs just one goal to become the leading goal scorer in the history of men's international football.

He is currently level with former Iran striker Ali Dae on 109 goals.
