Arsenal defender Pablo Mari came in for plenty of criticism after his 'defending' for Tottenham Hotspur's goal during a pre season friendly on Sunday.

Arsenal's pre season came to a close as they played in a North London derby, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with boths sides starting pretty strong teams.

The game was relatively tight, with just a couple of chances on target from both sides, and seemed to be heading towards a 0-0 draw.

With just 11 minutes left, Calum Chambers cleared the ball high in the air, Pepe decided to try and keep the ball on the pitch but then lost possession to Japhet Tanganga.

The Spurs defender then played to ball to Giovani Lo Celso who lofted the ball back to him. Tanganga then crossed for Son Heung-min to score but the main focus was on Mari's attempts to win the ball, which just left him on the ground.

The Gunners have spent £50 million on Ben White this summer, and the centre back did start the game on Sunday afternoon, but he was off the pitch when Son scored.

Plenty of the fans were wondering why William Saliba, who signed for the club in 2019, was allowed to go back out on loan this season.

Mikel Arteta's side start their latest league campaign against newly promoted Brentford on Friday night, in the Premier League opener.

Fans will be hoping Mari isn't in the starting line up...
