Glen McAuley made a name for himself on Friday night, scoring possibly the greatest last minute equaliser you're likely to see.

McAuley's Athlone Town, from League of Ireland's First Division, were taking on Premier Division strugglers Waterford in the FAI Cup first round.
The two sides were locked at 2-2 after 90 minutes, with McAuley scoring both of his side's two goals from penalties, and had to go into an additional 30 minutes.
Each side scored again in extra time but game was heading for penalties. Then Waterford scored in the second minute of added on time of the 120 minutes and the hosts were headed for elimination, step forward McAuley.
Seven Athlone Town players lined up on the left hand side of the half way line for kick off and ran straight for the goal, that tricked the keeper into coming off his line and towards most of the opposition, kick off was rolled back to McAuley and he launched his shot straight over the Waterford keeper and into the goal, scenes!
OH MY GOD!

You'd be mad to try this, but you do need an equaliser in the last seconds of extra time in the Cup.... https://t.co/7pFkYAVdH8

I heard it's written into the laws of the Puskas award that there must always be a contender from the Irish league. https://t.co/l9mrKJzu8G

The strike alone is.... but it's injury time, in extra time, and they're one down :clap::clap: https://t.co/c4wistNGl4
That was liquid football. Shit! Did you see that? He must have a foot like a traction engine. The proof is in the pudding and the pudding in this case is a football. Boof! Eat my goal! The goalie's got football pie all over his shirt. https://t.co/jdJLrDewFi

The goal however only delayed the hosts fate of being knocked out of the cup.
McAuley's goal took the game to a penalty shootout and, having been embarrassed by the last minute equaliser, the Waterford keeper saved two spot kicks.
The visitors won the shootout 4-2 to save themselves from a cupset but the hosts will always have McAuley's goal to remember.
Puskas Award winner anyone?
