Toni Kroos scored straight from a corner as Real Madrid beat Valencia in the semi-final of the Spanish Supercopa on Wednesday and the new angle shows just how his quick thinking paid off.

The German midfielder saw that Valencia keeper Jaume Domenech was too busy organising his defence, quickly rolled the ball into the corner quadrant and swung the ball into the back of the net.

Kroos took the corner so quickly that the original angle shown on television missed the bit where the player got the ball into position for the referee to blow the whistle.

In fact the tv channel was too busy still showing a replay of how the corner came about that it had to switch back to the live coverage quickly, only showing Kroos' teammates running towards him to celebrate.

"Even the TV camera missed it Toni the genius went Trent Mode," one social media user wrote.

A second tweeted: "TONI KROOS... CORNER TAKEN QUICKLY... GOALLLLL."

A third added: "Kroos with that marvellous corner taken quickly goal."

The 30-year-old opened the scoring in Saudi Arabia with his quick thinking after just 15 minutes before Isco doubled the lead on 39 minutes.

Luka Modric made it 3-0 after 65 minutes before Daniel Parejo scored a consolation for the Copa del Rey holders in injury time.

In the other semi-final Barcelona face Atletico Madrid on Thursday evening in the first time that the Supercopa has had anything other than a final.

As usual the league champions, Barca, and cup winners, Valencia, are in the competition but they've been joined by the two Madrid sides, who are in by finishing in the top four last season.

The competition is also taking place in Saudi Arabia, something Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde isn't happy about, "The bottom line is football has become a business and as a business it looks for income," Valverde said.

"That's the reason we are all here.

"It's a completely different format to what we're used to. It was always the first title and the opener of the season and to me that seemed fine.

"It's been changed and let's see, it will be judged once it has happened. It's interesting, with four good teams, but from a sporting point of view, I'm not sure."

He's right of course but can you stay mad at a tournament that gave us Kroos' goal?
