Manchester United winger Daniel James continued his excellent start for the club as he opened the scoring against Southampton, but couldn't stop his side dropping more points in the Premier League.

James joined from Swansea City for just £15 million in the summer, after nearly moving to Leeds United last January, and has had an instant impact on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team.

The Welshman made his United debut off the bench in the first game of the season against Chelsea and scored just seven minutes after coming on.

He started against Wolves and had a poor game but returned to the scoresheet against Crystal Palace last week, before the visitors went on to get a surprise victory.

On Saturday, United had looked on the backfoot earlier in the game, with Sofiane Boufal nearly putting the hosts ahead.

However it was James and United who opened the scoring with his curling effort in the 10th minute and from there the Red Devils looked to take control of the game.

However Jannik Vestergaard equalised for the hosts in the second half and, despite Kevin Danso picking up a red card with over 15 minutes to go, the Red Devils couldn't find a winner.

James was United's only attacking signing of the summer with Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka the only two other additions to Solskjaer's squad.

With Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez having left for Inter this summer the Welshman will get plenty of football this season.

On Saturday he was easily United's best attacking threat.
