Douglas Costa made headlines for all the wrong reasons after his sending off for Juventus against Sassuolo and even his apology hasn't gone down well with the forward having to respond to criticism.
Cristiano Ronaldo finally scored his first goal since moving from Real Madrid to Italy when he twice bagged in Juventus' Serie A win against Sassuolo in the Old Lady's 2-1 win on Sunday afternoon, however the five time Ballon d'Or winner wasn't the main talking point.
Instead it was Sassuolo's goal and the aftermath of it that grabbed all the headlines as Juve winger Douglas Costa managed to get himself sent off.

The Brazilian was lucky to not get himself sent off in the build up to the goal with an elbow and a bad challenge in the lead up to the goal before a headbutt and a spitting incident, caught by VAR, saw him get his marching orders.
Costa posted an apology on Instagram saying, "I would like to apologise to all of Juventus fans for this misleading reaction in today's game. I also apologize to my teammates, who are always with me in good times and bad. I was ugly, I am aware and I apologize to everyone for it. I make it clear that this isolated attitude does not match what I have always shown in my career. Douglas Costa."

However fans still weren't happy as they complained that the former Bayern Munich man hadn't apologised to Di Francesco for spitting at him. The Brazilian responded to that criticism, commenting on his own post to say, "You do not know what you are talking about, you do not know what Di Francesco told me. But everything's okay, I apologized, because I'm wrong."
Costa and Di Francesco could be the next Zidane and Materazzi as everyone tries for years to work out what caused the Juve player to spit at his opponent.
Fortunately for Max Allegri's side it didn't make too much difference as they ran out winners.
