An interesting experiment, to say the least.

As football fans we always wonder what it would be like to field an entire team full of the same player cloned 11 times.

After all, that's why the "We all dream of a team of *insert player's name*" chant has been heard around the terraces up and down the country by various different sets of football supporters.

Of course, unless there's some major, rapid advance in technology, there's no way of knowing how a team of the same player would fare.

The closest you can get to finding out is in video game form.

We love a good experiment on FIFA. It allows you to break away from the monotony of the same old routine and change things a bit.

Personally, my go-to thing is to create a team that contains a single player from every top league on the game and test my side against mate who has adhered to the same rules.

You select an MLS team and transfer all the players there, mainly because they've got some beautiful kits and have a lot of slots available and then play the game on kick-off. You could have Paul Pogba, Cristiano Ronaldo, Angel Di Maria, Leonardo Bonucci and Manuel Neuer in your team, while your opponent could have a team that comprises of Sergio Aguero, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Jerome Boateng, Dries Mertens and Marco Verratti.

Seeing what team you can put together and seeing how they fare in the game is always good fun.

Another shrewd idea from one FIFA YouTuber recently was to insert both Barcelona and Real Madrid into the Premier League on career mode and see how they got on.

But this experiment from YouTuber Rich Leigh has gone up another gear.

With a 93 rating, Lionel Messi is the second highest-rated player on the game and his superb statistics in a number of different areas means he is a joy to play with.

Rich wanted to find out what it was like to play with a squad full of Messis, from goalkeeper right through to substitutes and so took it upon himself to get rid of anyone other player in the Barcelona side and duplicate Messi to the point where he was the only player in the squad. Goalkeeper, right-back, centre-back, left-back, midfielder, right-wing, left-wing and striker - all go by the name Lionel Messi.

Here is what happened when Rich simulated the season:

Sadly there's no footage of the games but then again it would take an absolute age to film and produce a video with more than 38 games to play.

But it's still fascinating seeing what happens to the one-man team during the course of the season, with the results particularly surprising.

One would think that a team of Messis would be unstoppable but it's certainly not the case here.

When March rolls around, Barcelona are right of the foot of the La Liga table, with just six wins, two draws and a staggering 18 defeats. Messi only managed to score 22 goals in the league and conceded a massive 71 - giving an overall goal difference of -49. Ouch.

Rich is sacked with a couple of months in the season left, thus proving that a team of Messis on FIFA may not be such a good idea after all.
