Barcelona captain Lionel Messi has received a major improvement in his face scan in FIFA 21 after fans brutally mocked his original appearance in EA Sports' latest title.

Photos initially emerged online of what appeared to be the 33-year-old Argentine superstar's face scan in FIFA 21, which left many fans raising their eyebrows at his appearance.

Fans took to social media to mock the original face for Messi and even blasted the quality in comparison to his look in PES 2021.

EA Sports has now fixed that issue in the latest patch and also added new face scans for Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar.

The FIFA 21 update was recently released on PC and is expected to come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One soon.

Fans have already made their feelings perfectly clear that the new face scan for Messi is significantly better than the original one used.

"Oh nice, he doesnt [sic] look like a garden gnome anymore," one user posted on Reddit.

While another argued: "How can this even be an update? Should be in the game from day 1 unbelievable that people are buzzing about it."

A third user wrote: "Wow, this looks great now!"

And a fourth simply added: "He looks better now."

FIFA 21 was officially released on 9th October for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

EA Sports has confirmed that the latest title in the long-running franchise would also be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Google Stadia at a later date.
