FIFA 18 Rubs Salt Into Benjamin Mendy's Serious Injury

The Manchester City left-back could be out for up to nine months after rupturing his ACL.

Benjamin Mendy was having such a good start to life at Manchester City, both on the pitch and on social media, but his injury has put a huge stop to that. Now EA Sports have rubbed salt in the wound.

In the summer Benjamin Mendy became the most expensive defender of all time when he moved from Monaco to Manchester City and he instantly made an impact at the Etihad Stadium.

Everyone was enjoying the Frenchman's performances, especially Pep Guardiola, and even more so his banter on Twitter was becoming infamous. He called out Kyle Walker on a couple of brilliant occasions.

One thing Mendy loved to do was take to Twitter to complain about his ranking on the now released FIFA 18. Despite his brilliant performances for Monaco last season he was being given a 'lowly' ranking of 78.

But this week the 23 year old got some terrible news as a ruptured ACL is likely to keep him out for the rest of the season. The misery doesn't end there though with EA now knocking two points off his rating as a result, really rubbing the salt into his surgery wound:

FIFA edits players' ratings throughout the season based on form and they can either drop or raise their rating a couple of points. Obviously injuries are taken into account but many think it was bit harsh to do it so quickly, especially after his great start to the season:

Maybe if Mendy hadn't spent so much of the build up to the game coming out complaining about his rating being so low he wouldn't have been so instantly on EA's radar to dock him points.

Poor guy is now going to be stuck at home playing FIFA with an even lower rating. We wish him a speedy recovery and a return to his rightful rating.
