Over the years on FIFA, French players have typically been near the top on the game. Despite a few blips in recent times, France have been among the top nations in international football and their players have been among the best on the game.

From FIFA 05 onwards, we take a look at who was the best rated French player on the game.

FIFA 05:

France's squad on FIFA 05 was absolute fire. They had nine players rated 90 or above and at the very cream of the crop was Zinedine Zidane and Thierry Henry. Zidane was rated a staggering 96, while Henry was a mark higher at 97 - meaning the then-Arsenal man was joint best player in the game.

Henry's supreme stats included: 98 dribbling, 98 anticipation, 98 composure, 98 acceleration and 98 pace.

FIFA 06:

A year later and Henry had to settle for joint best-rated French player, as fellow striker David Trezeguet and Zinedine Zidane were also rated 92.

FIFA 07:

It was all change in FIFA 07, though, as though Henry and Trezeguet were among the best French players, Lyon goalkeeper Gregory Coupet was the top dog and had a staggering rating of 91.

FIFA 08:

Coupet's reign on top was short-lived, however, as his rating went down by seven when FIFA 08 was released. Henry, now at Barcelona, was back on top.

FIFA 09:

FIFA 09 marked a changing of the guard as Franck Ribery started to get into his groove at Bayern Munich and was rewarded with an 88 rating - making him the top Frenchman on the game.

FIFA 10:

Things stayed exactly the same for Ribery on FIFA 10, with Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey the second best Frenchman on the game for the second year running.

FIFA 11:

Ribery saw his rating go down by two to 86 in FIFA 11 but he was again the best player hailing from France.

FIFA 12:

A 28-year old Ribery would receive his highest rating to date though just a year on, as he was rated 89 on the game.

FIFA 13:

And it would get even better in FIFA 13, with Ribery continuing to tear it up on the game - only this time he was rated 90. He was he joint third highest-rated player on the game on the whole.

FIFA 14:

Ribery maintained his dominance for another year on FIFA 14, boasting an 89 rating in this instance.

FIFA 15:

Ribery would then come back down to 88 for the FIFA 15 edition of the game.

FIFA 16:

Things were changed up in EA's ratings in FIFA 16, as now Ribery had to share the spoils with two other players. Both Paul Pogba and Karim Benzema were rated 86.

FIFA 17:

Finally, Ribery was out of the picture completely when it came to the top French player on FIFA 07, as Paul Pogba, Antoine Griezmann and Hugo Lloris are all 88 rated at present and sit at the top of the tree. Ribery retained his rating of 86, the same score given to Karim Benzema.

Zinedine Zidane - 1
