There have been a plethora of 'Miss of the Season' contenders this season but fair play to West Ham's Andrew Ayew for waiting until the back-end of the season to put his name in the hat.

There have been a plethora of 'Miss of the Season' contenders this season but fair play to West Ham's Andre Ayew for waiting until the back-end of the season to put his name in the hat.

Daniel Sturridge, in his first start for Liverpool since January, fired Liverpool ahead in the game against West Ham in the 35th minute, latching onto an inch-perfect threaded pass from Philippe Coutinho, timing his run expertly and rounding Adrian before rolling the ball into the empty net.

Coutinho then grabbed the second and third with two fine finishes for his 11th and 12th Premier League goals of the season, followed up by Divock Origi adding a fourth as Jurgen Klopp's side really began to turn on the style.

But West Ham really ought to have be on level terms earlier on in the game.

That's because just minutes after Sturridge had opening the scoring, Ayew missed two sitters in the same sequence.

Having peeled away from his marker from a corner late in the half, the Ghanaian was presented with a golden opportunity to equalise.

Yet despite the ball falling perfectly to him just two yards out, the former Swansea man could only hit the post.

And even when a second opportunity arrived instantly when the ball came back into his path, the result was the same as all Ayew could do was hit the woodwork again.

Watch the two sitters here:

How has he missed?! It looks even worse in slow motion.

It's fair say that fans on Twitter were in disbelief at Ayew's two terrible misses - with many noting that the man himself has admitted he was a Liverpool fan growing up:

Can you remember a worst miss this season?
