The cameras panned to Virgil van Dijk in the stands at Anfield after Liverpool conceded at home to Leicester.

The most expensive defender in football history was in attendance to watch his new employers in action before he joins up with the squad in a few days time, and he clearly wasn't impressed by the goal Liverpool let in.

Three minutes into the game, Jamie Vardy put the Foxes ahead after some slack play at the back from Liverpool.

Joel Matip's pass wasn't firm enough to find Emre Can, leading to Vicente Iborra seizing possession and playing in Riyad Mahrez, who had broken free from Andy Robertson.

The Algerian squared for Vardy, who tapped in for an easy goal.

It was a very poor goal to concede on Liverpool's part, and once several replays had been shown, the cameras cut to Liverpool's new Dutch defender, wearing his turtle-neck, and his reaction was priceless.

Check it out:

Liverpool levelled from Mohamed Salah, who scored his 22nd goal of the season, in the 52nd minute, before the Egyptian bagged another to take his tally to 23 and complete the turnaround.

As we know, the Reds are absolutely devastating going forward but their leaky defence has been their achilles heel this season and that was evident again today.

The £75 million capture of Van Dijk, the latest player to join from feeder club Southampton, has been criticised by many, but Jurgen Klopp is having none of it.

"He is quality, that is why we got him and that is why we were interested in him," Klopp said, as quoted by The Telegraph.

"It is difficult at the moment because technically he is still a player of Southampton. I can imagine people will think 'wow, what a number it is' but for me it is not really interesting.

"We do not make the price, the market makes the price and the first thing all Liverpool supporters should forget quite soon is the price. We only talk about the player and what he can bring in - his qualities, mentality and character. That is why we are really happy about it."

Is van Dijk the answer to Liverpool's problems?
