Steward Seen 'Celebrating' Manchester United's Winner Goes Viral

The look on his face when he realises he's been spotted congratulating Nemanja Matic for his late winner against Crystal Palace is priceless

People often complain when a player taking their shirt off or running to the crowd results in a yellow card, after all it's difficult to stop that raw emotion. So you've got to have sympathy with the Crystal Palace steward caught celebrating.

Fans hate the fact that you can get booked for over celebrating in football, as do footballers, because there's just no stopping the visceral feeling you get when you score a goal.

How would you celebrate one of these from our top goals compilation:

It's the same reason that lots of people hate VAR. If you have to wait for a guy in an office watching three replays until you can celebrate it's hardly based on the raw emotion of the goal.

The only way a goal gets even more emotional is if it becomes a late winner, and more so when it's a game when you were 2-0 down. Quite frankly Nemanja Matic' goal on Monday night was so good you would have excused him taking all his clothes off and screaming 'Are you not entertained?' in the middle of the pitch.

Instead the former Chelsea midfielder ran towards the fans to celebrate. He was met by the stewards in the vicinity but one man in an orange jacket came from slightly further afield and could be seen smiling and patting Matic's back until he realised he was on screen when his smile turned to dread:

You have to wonder if it's this guy:

Of course it'll do nothing to stop the stereotype that all United fans are from London but you doubt if Matic, the steward or any United fans will care today after Jose Mourinho's side pulled off a Fergie style comeback for the first time in ages.

The win from 2-0 goals down in the second half put the Red Devils back ahead of Liverpool ahead of the pair meeting at Old Trafford on Saturday.

If Matic scores a late winner in that game then expect fireworks, or a dropping of his pants and a Gladiator quote.
