If the Champions League final was a living nightmare for Liverpool fans as they lost in ridiculous fashion to Real Madrid then it really was the dream final that Manchester United fans were hoping for.

In a season when they played poor football, ended up 19 points behind their rivals Manchester City and lost the FA Cup final the last thing Manchester United fans wanted was to see Liverpool lift the Champions League trophy against Real Madrid.

Before the game United fans were so worried that their historic rivals might win their sixth Champions League title that they turned to former player Cristiano Ronaldo to help them, including the Real player's former teammate Gary Neville:

That didn't go down well with Liverpool fan DJ Spoony:

And Neville threw down a promise ahead of the game:

Early on in the final in Kyiv the Sky Sports commentator and pundit may have been a little worried with the Reds bossing the opening exchanges but the injury to Mo Salah changed the game and Gareth Bale's brace, helped by Loris Karius brace of mistakes, won the game for Los Blancos.

Zidane, Bale and co may have been pretty happy but despite Ronaldo not having too much impact it seems like Neville was even happier:

Neville, and most of Manchester, would have let out a huge sigh of relief once Karius made the second mistake and Bale's first goal may have been celebrated just as much in one part of the north west of England as it was bemoaned in the other.

No doubt he'll have messaged Jamie Carragher privately.
