The Hilarious Theory About Why Romelu Lukaku Is So Ripped

A Monday morning training session must be difficult after coming up against man-mountain Romelu Lukaku. You'd struggle to walk never mind train.

The Belgian striker is as physical as they come. Strong, pacey and a menace for any defender, the 24-year-old's presence in Jose Mourinho's XI is vital and this weekend was proof of his importance.

Lukaku found himself on the scoresheet once again on Saturday afternoon, slotting past goalkeeper Jack Butland after he parried into the Belgian's path.

Manchester United fell behind to Stoke at the weekend, but Lukaku managed to net his 150th career goal in a action packed 2-2 draw.

Before the game, Lukaku and Marcus Rashford spoke to BT Sport about shooting practice and the Belgian revealed that the pair face a punishment for missing chances on the training ground:

"Every day we do a finishing drill where every time we don't hit the target we do press-ups - only the two of us." Lukaku said in an interview with BT Sport.

Shortly after the quotes emerged, Twitter user @0ssyy made up a theory about these 'training ground press ups' and it did the rounds on social media.

It all began when another Twitter user, Rahul Singh, tweeted the quote out to his followers:

@0ssyy quoted the tweet and captioned: "No wonder he's absolutely huge..."

Brilliant.

Lukaku missed a sitter during the Stoke game, when he fired over the bar in the second half - a chance that could have won Manchester United the game.

But his influence has been clear. After the serious injury sustained to Zlatan Ibrahimovic last season, a determined Lukaku has stepped up to the mark with four goals in four Premier League games.

Manchester United teammate Ander Herrera summed up the striker's influence perfectly:

"He is so hungry, he wants to win things, he wants to score goals and he wants to be important." Herrera told Manchester United's official website.

"It doesn't matter that he hasn't played Champions League before, he has scored goals and played in the best league in the world so he will score goals for us."
