Lukas Podolski bowed out of international football in some fucking style after netting a rocket to clinch a 1-0 'friendly' victory over England.

And his retirement from the Germany ranks has everyone celebrating his brilliant career.

This, naturally, includes a typically hilarious Thomas Muller soundbite. The Bayern forward eventually made it onto the field as a substitute for Podolski's fairy tale send-off.

The German forward, who has 130 caps and 49 goals for his country, bagged the winner against England on Wednesday night as the Westfalenstadion in Dortmund stood and applauded the emotional 31-year-old.

England's No.1 Joe Hart had absolutely no chance saving it but not according to Muller who's joked that he was paid to let the ball in. Speaking via The Daily Mail, "I don't know how much he paid for the England goalkeeper to let it in."

Moments after the goal, Hart, who was clearly impressed with his exploits, was pictured congratulating Podolski, a great act of sportsmanship.

He revealed what Hart said to him during the exchange, and it makes the moment even more significant.

Podolski said: "He (Hart) said it was a fucking brilliant shot!" It's hard to argue with the Torino shot stopper on this occasion.

What a career, Lukas!
