Manchester City Troll Peter Crouch After He Announced His Retirement

Manchester City used Peter Crouch's retirement to remind him of one of the lowlights of his career and troll Spurs fans and they did it under the guise of Crouch's best goal.

It's a sad day for football because Peter Crouch has decided to hang up his boots and there aren't many characters like the tall striker.

There's been many tributes pouring in for Crouch's career but the latest one isn't exactly nice for the 38-year-old, with Manchester City taking the chance to troll Spurs and their former striker.

The Premier League champions appeared to post a video of Crouch's famous goal for Stoke against City but finished it off with his own goal for Spurs in 2011.

The own goal came on the 10th May 2011 in a 1-0 win for City and at the time the two teams were chasing a place in the top four and Champions League qualification.

Before the match City were six points clear of their rivals with three games left and Crouch's unfortunate goal in the wrong net secured Roberto Mancini's side's place in the following season's top European competition.

The match came as revenge for the Manchester club as a year before it was the north London side who were the victors in the match between the two sides to claim a Champions League place.

Crouch's 89th minute winner against City in May 2010 was enough to secure fourth spot for Harry Redknapp's team and send their opponents into the Europa League.

The next season Spurs go to the Champions League quarter finals, where they were knocked out by Real Madrid, before City cost them the chance to qualify the next season.

Crouch ends his career as the Premier League's 24th all time top scorer with 108 goas, just one behind Ryan Giggs, having played for seven teams in England's top tier.

After dropping down to the Championship with Stoke City at the end of the 2017/18 season he returned to the top tier for the final six month of his career with Burnley in January this year but couldn't add to his goal tally in the league.
