Luke Shaw Trolls Romelu Lukaku After Inter Crash Out Of Champions League

The Serie A side had their fate in their own hands and failed to beat a weakened Barcelona team in the San Siro.

Luke Shaw was quick to welcome Romelu Lukaku to the Europa League after Inter lost to Barcelona and confirmed they'll join Manchester United in the competition in February.

Heading into Matchday Six of the Champions League Group Stage Inter needed to equal Borussia Dortmund's result to go through, with the Germans playing against Slavia Prague.

The Nerazzurri failed to beat Barca whilst Dortmund did pick up all three points meaning that Lukaku and his teammates were knocked out.

They finished third and will go into the last 32 draw for the Europa League, prompting a welcoming from Lukaku's former teammate Shaw.

Lukaku was part of United's team last season, as they got knocked out of the Champions League by Barcelona, and he was unable to help them finish in the top four, meaning they're playing in the second tier continental competition this season.

The Belgian was seen as surplus to requirements in the summer, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferring a more mobile front three and the former Chelsea forward often employed out wide.

He moved to Inter and he's started the season well in Italy, scoring 10 goals in 15 league appearances and two more in the Champions League.

On Tuesday night Conte's side went a goal behind to Spanish champions Barca when Carles Perez scored after 23 minutes before Lukaku equalised on the stroke of half time.

The 26-year-old striker missed chances at 0-0 and 1-1 and the Serie A league leaders had two goals correctly disallowed by VAR before the visitors went 2-1 up.

Ansu Fati became the youngest scorer in the tournament's history when he scored from outside the area in the 86th minute. With Dortmund leading it meant Inter needed two to go through, but failed to score.

Lukaku tweeted the original picture that Shaw replied to in October ahead of the win over Lucien Favre's side at the San Siro.

In their previous Champions League game they had let away to Barca before losing and they did the same against Dortmund in the reverse fixture on Matchday Four, two fixtures they'll look back on in not qualifying for the knockout stages.

United could be met by their previous striker very soon. They must defeat AZ Alkmaar on Thursday to finish top of their Europa group, even though they've already qualified, to avoid the Champions League dropouts.

The last 32 draw is a week on Friday and Shaw may not be so welcoming if Inter are coming to town.
