Sir Alex Ferguson Had A Scathing Assessment Of Mino Raiola

The former Manchester United manager wasn't very happy with Paul Pogba's agent and all the problems have started again at Old Trafford.

We're sometimes doomed to repeat history and that's the worry at Old Trafford right now when it comes to Manchester United, Paul Pogba and the Frenchman's agent Mino Raiola. Perhaps Sir Alex Ferguson had it right all along.

Paul Pogba started his career at Manchester United. It's where he first made his senior debut in 2011 aged just 18 when he came on in a League Cup game against Leeds United at half-time.

At the time that Sir Alex Ferguson promoted him quickly up the ranks at Old Trafford he noted that the Frenchman was some talent and they needed to play him saying, "I mean if we hold Pogba back, what's going to happen? He's going to leave. You know, in a couple of years' time when his contract is going to finish. So we have to give him the opportunity to see how he can do in the first-team and he's got great ability."

Of course Pogba did eventually return to United for £89.3 million but things have quickly soured and his agent Mino Raiola took aim at Paul Scholes today, just weeks after his client was linked with a move to Barcelona.

Looking back on a bit of history it's clear Fergie was never a fan. Ospreys' prop Brian Mujati had the chance to ask Fergie about the transfer when he was a Sale Sharks player and the former United manager didn't disappoint with his description of the player's agent Mino Raiola:

United did offer Pogba an improved deal to stay at Old Trafford but Fergie clearly believes that Raiola was at fault for persuading his client to move to Italy and sign with the Old Lady.

Of course it could be attributed to the lack of football Pogba got in that first season but Raiola is well known for some of his dealings to get his players a move away from where they are.

Once again it seems like Raiola is angling for his client to get a big money move, which will no doubt make him a pretty penny or two as well.

With the transfer window closed in England it does seem like Pogba will be staying put for now as the Red Devils don't have the ability to replace him.

If Jose Mourinho were to leave Old Trafford things could change but right now things aren't looking good.
