"Has Jesse Lingard Turned Into Diego Maradona?"

Jesse Lingard has been compared to both Diego Maradona and George Best by one Arsenal fan, who would clearly be happy to see the England international at the Emirates.

Lingard's form has been sensational, since he made a loan move from Manchester United to West Ham United in January, being top scorer in the Premier League since the end of January.

Such is the 28-year-old's impressive work that he's been linked with a potentially permanent move to the likes of Real Madrid, PSG and Inter.

Whilst some people think that Lingard turning up at the Bernabeu might be a bit too far, one Arsenal fan doesn't think it would be far enough.

talkSPORT listener John rang the Sports Bar show to share his love of the former Leicester City loanee.

"Oh my God, has Jesse Lingard turned into Maradona?" John opened with.

"I haven't seen football from a British player like this for years, since the days of George Best.

"If he gets West Ham into the top four, it would be phenomenal!

"Jesse Lingard should be the number one player for England, they should build a team around him.

"He's a brilliant player, but he's always been a maverick, he's always done it. I remember when he won the FA Cup for Manchester United, he got the winning goal. I've always liked him, I like his character and personality and he's just been let loose!

"If I was Jesse Lingard I wouldn't go back to Man U and if they're not going to take him at West Ham I'd go abroad where he would be absolutely amazing.

"Jesse Lingard is brilliant, he's fantastic."

Sometime talkSPORT pundits find themselves astonished at their callers' opinions but Andy Goldstein and Jason Cundy weren't about to argue about Lingard.

Talking on the show Goldstein, who supports Manchester United, quipped, "Messi Lingard, he has just been unbelievable for West Ham."

With his co host saying, "He's on fire, he's in the form of his life."

Their caller will be glad to know that as well as the trio of Champions League clubs, Lingard has also been linked with a move to Arsenal.

With West Ham on the verge of making the top four, he may choose to stay at the London Stadium.
