Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's Trophy Lift Was An Absolute Disaster

The Arsenal captain won the cup for Mikel Arteta's side with his two goals to defeat Chelsea, but he failed to lift the trophy.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang might have been the best player for 90 minutes of the FA Cup final but he showed his talents don't stretch to trophy lifting.

The Arsenal captain scored a brace at Wembley on Saturday afternoon, to help the Gunners beat Chelsea 2-1 and capture their 14th FA Cup trophy.

After full time the 31-year-old had to lift the trophy himself, rather than be handed it, in the Covid-19 world, and he showed why it's usually better to have it presented.

First of all the Gabon forward couldn't get it off the plinth and then he managed to drop it when taking it over to his teammates, before finally lifting it.

The win secured Mikel Arteta's first silverware as a manager, having taken his first position at the Emirates Stadium earlier this season after leaving Manchester City as Pep Guardiola's assistant, and made sure Arsenal will be in the Europa League next season.

Speaking about his captain dropping the trophy, the manager said, "It can happen. I think it happened a few years back as well.

"He needs more experience with trophies. You know we can get him used to that!"

It was the forward's first silverware since winning the DFB Pokal Cup with Borussia Dortmund in 2017 and the Gunners are hoping it won't be his last with them, with rumours he could leave this summer as his contract is set to expire at the end of next season.

Sergio Ramos once famously dropped the Copa del Rey trophy from the top of the open-top bus during Real Madrid's trophy parade, with the trophy being squashed underneath the bus' wheels.

Last week Branislav Ivanovic dropped and broke the Russian Cup, after Zenit St Petersburg won the final, but in the former Chelsea player's defence, it probably shouldn't be made out of glass...
