Manchester United Concede Against Spurs After Atrocious Defending

A comedy of errors allowed Jose Mourinho's team to equalise just minutes after a first minute penalty from United.

Manchester United's awful defending was once again under the spotlight as Spurs were allowed to score twice in the first seven minutes.

United took an early lead, as Jose Mourinho returned to Old Trafford, when Davinson Sanchez took out Anthony Martial in the first minute, giving Bruno Fernandes the chance from the penalty spot.

However the home side didn't have the lead for long as Tanguy Ndombele was allowed to equalise from close range in the fourth minute after both Eric Bailly and Harry Maguire made mistakes and failed to clear the ball.

And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side soon found themselves behind in the seventh minute. Harry Maguire fouled Harry Kane 10 yards inside the United half, Kane took a very quick free kick and Son Heung-min raced through to make it 2-1.

It was thought earlier in the week that Son's injury would mean he missed the trip to United but earlier in the week it was reported that he would be fit.

Solskjaer was asked before kick-off if the team had prepared to face the South Korean and the United boss suggested the injury was typical mind games and they'd expected to face the former Bayer Leverkusen player.

United's first minute penalty was in complete contrast to their game against Brighton a week ago. There the 13 times Premier League winners won their spot kick in the 100th minute.

Neal Maupay handled the ball from United's corner but the referee blew the final whistle without realising, it took VAR to make the decision.

United have had a poor start to the season, losing to Crystal Palace in their opening game before fortunately coming through the Brighton game.
