Ivan Cavaleiro became the third Fulham player in recent weeks to miss a penalty, as he slipped when trying to get Scott Parker's side back in the game against Everton.

Before the international break Ademola Lookman's panenka attempt against West Ham, in the final seconds of the game, had floated straight into the arms of Lukasz Fabianski, in embarrassing fashion for the winger.

The miss denied the west London side a point and led to questions about why Aleksandar Mitrovic didn't take the spot kick. The Serbian partially answered that when his miss in a Euro 2020 qualifier helped Scotland get to their first international tournament in 22 years.

On Sunday the Cottagers were awarded a spot kick against Everton, when trailing 3-1, giving them the chance to get back in the game.

Lookman and Mitrovic were both on the pitch but the responsibility landed at the feet of Cavaleiro. The Portuguese forward slipped as he took the penalty and ended up hitting it with both feet as it ballooned over the bar.

Parker's team, who already look like obvious relegation candidates at this relatively early part of the season, didn't start the game well at all.

Carlo Ancelotti's side took just 42 seconds to get back into the groove, after a recent loss of form, as Richarlison found Dominic Calvert-Lewin to score inside the first minute.

They were level through Bobby Decordova-Reid in the 15th minute but Calvert-Lewin, on incredible form this season, but the visitors back ahead after 29 minutes.

Abdoulaye Doucoure made it 3-1 with 10 minutes until the break, as the Toffees threatened to run away with the game.

Fulham did become move of an attacking threat in the second half before substitute Ruben Loftus-Cheek was brought down in the box by Ben Godfrey.

Cavaleiro's moment of embarrassment didn't impact the game too much in the end with Lookman setting up Loftus-Cheek to make it 3-2 just two minutes after the side's third penalty miss of the season.

That's how the game ended, as Fulham continue to struggle. Parker has a lot to work on, first up might be penalties.
