An Irish newspaper has made a huge fuck up following the announcement that Romelu Lukaku will sign for Manchester United for an initial £75 million ($96.5m).

Although everyone knows the move from Everton is going to happen, the transfer still needs to be confirmed by the clubs. This means that the Belgian striker has still to be officially unveiled and he's not yet been included in United's preseason tour squad.

Obviously, this means that he's not been pictured in a Manchester United kit at the time of writing.

So who was it pictured on the The Herald's backpage in a United kit under the headline 'Lukaku is ready for work'?

Well, given that he has appeared on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch, even your gran would probably be able to tell you that it's grime-artist Stormzy.

Stormzy has previously spoken about the similarity in their appearance but you've still got to imagine a picture editor has been in for a bollocking this morning.

The Herald have since issued an apology:

It does look like we will be seeing a photo of the real Lukaku in a United kit in the not too distant future, though.

The 24-year-old had a medical at the weekend and posted a farewell message to Everton.

"I want to say a big thank you to all the people involved at Everton," he said on Instagram on Sunday.

"I want to thank the fans for your support throughout the four years we've spent together. I can proudly say it was an honour to play in front of you."

He continued: "To the staff at the the stadium and training ground thank you for making me feel home from the first day I walked in.

"To technical staff thank you for helping me become a better player. Working with you guys has been a pleasure and I'll take your advice throughout the rest of my career. Thank you Everton football club."

Lukaku signed for the Merseyside club in July 2014 on a permanent basis after an initial loan and has scored 68 Premier League goals, so, even with the addition of Wayne Rooney, the squad will definitely miss him next season.
